Vekoma, one of the world's leading ride builders, was looking for a partner to develop the drive for a new attraction, the Xpress Platform 13 for Walibi Holland. In this roller coaster, visitors go to a speed of 90 km/h within 3 seconds. Electroproject developed, delivered and commissioned the drive including the controls.

Electroproject developed a linear synchronous drive with a power of 2.5 MW and a force of 200 kN (= 20 tonnes) for the Xpress Platform 13. This launches a 13-tonne mass to 90 km/h in 2.8 seconds. Acceleration during launch is 1.5 g. Electroproject has supplied and commissioned similar installations for amusement parks in Orlando and Paris.

Electroproject then modernised the control system. The original position measurement system was replaced by a solution without sensors. At the same time, the control of the power electronics was further optimised for an even more spectacular launch.
